It illuminates the interior lights causing distractions and safety issues for me trying to drive and other drivers around me, especially since I work 3rd shift and do a lot of nighttime driving. The sensor does not work properly and the vehicle computer is constantly thinking that my door is ajar. My 2013 Ford Edge has been having issues with the driver's door latch sensor. They indicated this was not a repair covered by warranty or extended service contract and referred us to glass or body repair shops for advice and repair. Two of the manufacturer's dealerships were consulted and denied this being experienced before. Vehicle is being repaired by a dealer-group-affiliated body shop. In a more densely traveled area and if the sunshade were open, this could have caused injury. Incident happened on a rural stretch of highway, so other cars were not impacted. There was no warning for this, nor environmental cause that we could see. The closed cloth constructed sunshade was the only thing that prevented a barrage of glass fragments from injuring passengers in our vehicle, as the pieces remaining on the top of the sunshade were numerous. Only done wiper blades around 100 times over the years on dozens of vehicles with no such special instructions necessary, but I've never owned anything with the whack ass center-out style wipers either. At interstate highway speed and without warning, front panel of panoramic sunroof (vista roof) shattered, throwing shards of glass upward, rearward, and down into the sunshade. Yeah, RTFM is totally appropriate here- I just never expected a special process to change wiper blades I guess. Ice before you switch the windshield wipers on. Make sure the windshield is free from snow and Note: You can use the service position to provide easier access to the wiper bladesįor freeing them from snow and ice. Note: You cannot move the wiper arms to the service position manually when you Move the wiper arms to the service position manually. The windshield wipers return to the starting position when you switch the ignition on.Ģ. Set the windshield wipers in the service position to change the wiper blades. Looks like you have the issue sorted but for future reference the "service position" for wiper blades (handy when washing your Edge) is detailed in your owner's manual (and yes, it certainly could have been explained better). Wife got home tonight- I moved them up by hand then went in a hit the ignition button- they came down and parked normally. I wasn't crazy about the "center out" either, but you get used to it. Same length, but the aerodynamic edge has to face front. If you use OEM Style Blades, they are two different part numbers. That's nice and all, but the whole "center out" swipe thing- meh. It's one of the few vehicles I've ever seen with the same sized wiper blades on both sides. I did swap the blades from side to side a month or so ago without any issues though. It just seems weird it happened right after the blades were changed. I have Forscan, so if there's some type of re-calibration in one of the modules, I'd rather try that first than have the dealer tear into it. Has anyone ran into this before? I assume it's an issue with the wiper motor itself and will need to go to the dealer for replacement- but I figured I'd ask here before we go through all of that. Not only that, they do it every time you turn on the ignition now, even with the wipers off. It's really weird and never did that before. It actually lifts the center portion of the blade completely off the glass for a half second then goes back down. They go down, then the driver's side does some weird, jerky two-step park maneuver. So I then go back in and hit the ignition button and turn off the wipers. I didn't rotate the arms or put any undue stress on them. Both came right off and the new ones snapped right in. I then replaced the wiper blades without issue. I turned on the ignition and wipers, then turned it off with them "up" since you cannot raise the wiper arms with them down without the arms hitting the hood. It sat on the lot for months and the blades were not in great shape. So I changed out the wiper blades on my wife's 2019 ST yesterday.
